Our Story

We have loved Spain for many years now! On one of our holidays in this beautiful country, we decided that -as soon as we had the opportunity- we would buy our own property and make the big decision to stay and live in Spain permanently.

Some changes and experiences in our lives made our ideas and thoughts accelerate. As a result, we have achieved our plans much earlier than expected. For almost two years we searched intensively for our ‘fairy -tale place’ to live, and we can tell you, it wasn’t easy! Of course, there are many lovely places to be, but the whole package had to satisfy our needs.

We have crossed Spain over and over again, to look for the right place to settle. And certainly, it was a difficult decision. Each part of Spain has it’s own charm and landscapes. But that’s to much a fantasy. So, after many visits and lots of hope en disappointments, we eventually set our sights on this beautiful area of Catalonia, near the river Ebro.

In 2005, Peter departed to Catalonia and started to build our dream home and guesthouse. Meanwhile I stayed in Holland to take care of our income and to make all the necessary preparations for the removal of furniture and arrangements connected to our emigration. In 2006 we permanently left Holland and so I joined Peter again an departed to sunny Spain.

The landscape and surroundings are magnificent, there is so much to see and do.

Yes, we love Catalonia, and we would like to inspire all of our guests with our enthusiasm. The area has so much to offer.

Of course there is the river Ebro (to enjoy fishing, canoeing etc.);

• There are many mountain trails for walkers;
• The Greenway, offers 120 miles of nature trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riding;
• The ruined village of Corbera is now an open air museum;
• climb up to the spa -resort in the Cardo mountains;
• discover all of the history and culture;
• visit some quaint authentic villages;
• visit the Roman city of Tarragona, or a day trip to Barcelona;
• Or ‘vamos a la playa’ and enjoy unspoilt beaches only 40 minutes away.

At the moment, our new but traditional rural building is under construction.

We intent to offer 4 beautiful en suite bedrooms and a fully self contained apartment. The house and the setting give you a sense of tranquillity; it has to be a place to dream a little …. For our guests and for us.

We would like to keep everyone informed on the developments; by means of photographs showing the progress of the construction.

Likewise, step by step this website will evolve and eventually will supply all of our guests with all of the local information and places of interest.

So we hope that, through the website, many of you will track our progress in the development of our ultimate dream spot !

Pets

We have 2 dogs: King our Jack Russell (he thinks he is a Danish Dog), Twiggy a Podenco (Spanish yachthound).

Its possible that you don’t like dogs or are afraid of them, if so please lets u know, and we will make sure that they don’t bother you at all.
